Welcome to Linda Watson Art
Hello!
I am an oil painter based on the Central Coast of NSW, Australia, creating light-filled works inspired by the beauty of the natural world — especially the ocean, where light shimmers, colour glows, and everything feels just a little more magical. It is this sense of wonder that continues to draw me in, and this light that I feel most called to capture in my paintings. My work explores colour, movement and luminosity in a way that feels joyful, calming and deeply heartfelt — art created to uplift, to soothe, and to bring beauty into everyday life. While the ocean often inspires my subject matter, what I am really painting is a feeling: the softness, sparkle and emotional warmth that light can bring to a space and to the heart.
Each piece is made with love, intention and gratitude, as an offering of beauty to be lived with, loved and felt.
I believe beauty is a gift meant to be shared, and through my art I hope to bring a sense of joy, peace and quiet wonder into the homes of others.
I invite you to explore my website, gallery, and online shop, where you will find a collection of original oil paintings on canvas, available in a range of sizes and finishes to suit your space. Selected works are also available as fine art prints, offering a beautiful way to bring light and colour into your home. If you are seeking something more personal, I warmly welcome enquiries for personalised paintings - a collaborative process to create a unique, light filled artwork inspired by your vision. I hope my work speaks to your heart, and I would be so honoured to have a piece find its way onto your wall.

"Early Riser"* is a stunning oil painting encased in a beautifully crafted Blackbutt timber shadow frame, capturing the tranquil beauty of sunrise at Wamberal Beach. The scene is bathed in warm golden hues as the sun rises above the horizon, casting a soft glow over the waves and shoreline. Gentle swells roll towards the beach, their foamy crests illuminated by the morning light, while the sand reflects subtle tones of dawn’s first touch. In the distance, the coastline adds depth to the composition, grounding the viewer in the serene atmosphere of a new day unfolding. This beautiful painting is ready to hang and look amazing in any space.

Morning Glow is a framed diptych oil painting that beautifully captures the serene and radiant essence of a seascape at sunrise. The two panels work harmoniously to create a continuous scene where waves roll gently onto the shore, their surfaces glistening with shades of blue, turquoise, and hints of white foam. The water appears almost luminous, reflecting the sky’s brilliant hues.
Above the ocean, the sky is painted in a stunning gradient of pink, purple, and orange, evoking the warmth and tranquility of dawn breaking over the horizon. The colors blend seamlessly, suggesting a peaceful atmosphere where light dances across the sky and sea. The light coloured framing enhances the elegance of the piece, adding a refined touch that complements the artwork’s depth and vibrancy.
Morning Glow radiates both energy and calmness, making it a striking addition to any space.

“Together We Dance” reflects my fascination with connection, movement, and quiet companionship found in the natural world. The two sea turtles are portrayed not as individuals, but as partners—moving in rhythm, guided by an unspoken understanding shaped by time and tide. Their gentle, circling motion mirrors a dance, symbolic of relationships built on trust, balance, and shared direction.
I chose oil paint for its richness and ability to capture depth, allowing the ocean to feel both vast and intimate. Layers of blue create a sense of calm and flow, while the warm tones of the turtles’ shells bring contrast and life, suggesting resilience and warmth within the surrounding coolness. The vibrant coral reef grounds the composition, representing community, shelter, and the interconnectedness of all living things.
This painting is an invitation to slow down and observe the quiet harmony that exists beneath the surface. It speaks to the beauty of moving through life alongside another—sometimes leading, sometimes following, but always together.

“Celestial Drifter” is an atmospheric oil painting that captures the quiet majesty of a lone jellyfish drifting through an illuminated underwater realm. Suspended in shafts of filtered light, the jellyfish glows with warm amber, coral, and rose tones, its translucent bell and flowing tendrils creating a sense of weightless movement. The surrounding ocean is rendered in layered blues, giving depth and serenity to the scene, while beams of light cascade downward like a celestial presence.
Below, a vibrant coral seafloor anchors the composition, blooming with soft pastels and textured forms that contrast the jellyfish’s delicate fragility. The gentle current suggested in the water invites the viewer to slow down, to float alongside this solitary traveler as it moves without resistance or destination.
This painting speaks to themes of surrender, stillness, and quiet wonder—celebrating the beauty of drifting, trusting unseen currents, and finding light within the depths.
